Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs

The Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs is a non-profit organization dedicated to the pursuit of ethics on a global scale. Over the years they have established an abundant library of resources including pertinent audio and video tapes. Carnegie Council came to Animus Rex seeking an efficient, logical way to manage these resources and a way to reach a wider audience.

Considering the various technologies available to us we chose to implement streaming media using Flash video, specifically because it does not require the end-user to download and install complicated plugins. Through our programming in Eskort, we detect the end-user's bandwidth capabilities and serve an optimized video file automatically.

We implemented RSS and a podcast feed and made it easy for conent managers to select any resource to push. We're pleased to note that Carnegie Council's podcast is consistently in the top 5 in the Government & Organizations category on iTunes. They've been number one several times, taking the top spot from the Whitehouse podcast.

• Several custom RSS feeds.
• Podcast that is consistently ranked in the top 10.
• Streaming Flash Media Server for high quality audio and video content.
• Fully Integrated iTunes U presence, which re-purposes existing website content and media so that content managers don't have to input things twice
• Several customized, real-time back-end reports:
  • Orders. Review all shopping cart orders. The main list includes a link to details for each order.
  • Ad Tracking. Tracks click-throughs from advertising links. Includes the referrer, referrer's IP address, ad name, and timestamp. A report automatically separates click-throughs from the newsletters that Carnegie Council sends.
  • Keyword Search. This report reviews the most commonly used search terms on the site and has three data display options:  
    • An overview that includes the type of search and timestamp.
    • Common search terms ordered by rank.
    • Search terms grouped by IP address.

• Real time events calendar and online registration.
• Media Center and Home Page feature functionality allow content managers to easily change what is highlighted.
